Alan “Kid Kansas” Garcia is embarking on his road to redemption after a tough setback in September when Ricardo Fernandez, a 15-13 journeyman, landed a shocking one-punch knockout.

Now, the 21-year-old lightweight is eager to return to the ring, with February 1 marked as his comeback date, as announced on Instagram.

The fight is set to take place at the Finney County Fairgrounds in Garden City, Kansas—just under an hour from his hometown of Ulysses. This will be Garcia’s first fight on home soil since November 2022, though his opponent has not yet been named.

“I’m more than ready to get back on track and perform in front of my people again,” Garcia, whose record stands at 14-1 with 11 knockouts, shared with his fans.

Garcia signed a long-term contract with Top Rank in March 2024, following two standout performances: one ending in a six-round decision and another in a first-round TKO. Under the promoter’s banner, he appeared on notable undercards, including Oscar Valdez-Liam Wilson in March, Denys Berinchyk-Emanuel Navarrete in May, and Luis Alberto Lopez-Angelo Leo in August. However, his first professional loss came later that year on the Jaime Munguia-Erik Bazinyan undercard.

Reflecting on his defeat, Garcia remained optimistic: “I suffered my first loss last night with just a simple mistake. It’s boxing. I love every part of this sport, the good and the ugly. I take my losses with my wins and the hate with the love. I move forward.”

With his comeback fight on the horizon, Garcia is determined to rebuild and prove that his journey is far from over.
