Court throws out sexual assault case against Conor McGregor

The civil lawsuit accusing MMA star Conor McGregor of sexually assaulting a woman during the 2023 NBA Finals in Miami has been formally withdrawn.

According to filings in the U.S. District Court in Florida, the anonymous complainant voluntarily moved to dismiss the case earlier this week. She had alleged that McGregor assaulted her inside a men’s restroom at the Kaseya Center during Game 4 of the Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.

Prosecutors in Florida previously reviewed the matter but declined to pursue criminal charges.

McGregor, 37, consistently denied the allegations.

The former UFC champion has not returned to competition since breaking his leg in a bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10, 2021, in Las Vegas.

The dropped lawsuit comes nearly a year after a separate civil case in Ireland, where McGregor was found liable for a 2018 sexual assault and ordered to pay the complainant approximately $250,000.
